Sigh
March 15, 2008
Decaffeinated coffee makes me sad. It’s better than no coffee at all, though.
Sometimes when I lay down to go to sleep, I get what I guess should be called palpitations. That is, I can feel my heart-beat go shuddering through my body. This lasts for a while. I’ve had this for as long as I can remember, and it’s never particularly bothered me. But I did think it was connected with the amount of caffeine I consume.
But it happened yesterday with the total caffeine consumption of zero mg. My total will be slightly higher today as decaffeinated coffee contains a small amount of caffeine, though not enough to worry about. So I guess the palpitations aren’t to do with caffeine after all.
The temazepam are delightfully relaxing. They seem to do fuck all about getting me to sleep, though. Since Monday, I’ve been going to bed at 11:30 each day. And each day it’s taking longer and longer to get to sleep. I’ve slept though my alarm a couple of times and today I woke up at 11am. Which means that I’ll have trouble getting to sleep tonight. And the sleep pattern will collapse into a rubble of good intentions that I’ll have to report to my psychiatrist.
Tomorrow I get to go to my benefits agency physical. I had to call them on Friday to confirm the times as they’d promised to send me a letter with all the details, but failed to do so. They’re running these on a Sunday, which is kind of odd.

The palpitations can be a product of caffeine withdrawal, that can start in less than a day since you had your last cup.
But they could have happened for a dozen other reasons, I guess.

When I went cold turkey from caffeine amongst other things I got palpitations. If they keep up after another couple of days then maybe get it seen to.
As for temazepam, I too found them rubbish for inducing sleep but good for calming me down. Maybe it is a case of sleep hygiene – you need to be in a restful state for them to truly work?

I hope the benefits thing goes okay, it does seem strange to do it on a Sunday, I am dreading my next one which I think is due in June or July.
Somedays I dream of getting back to work other days I know I can’t – I wish to god there was a happy medium,

A lot of psych meds make your heart beat hard/fast as well.
