They might help with mental health, but I think we all know there's a lot more to mental health than vitamin nutritional supplements.

Vitamins have proved immensely helpful for me, you may want to take another look around at the research, especially investigate mineral balances (zinc, selenium, magnesium and amino acid therapies...

(fyii, EmPowerEM made me worse, and I had to stop)

best, feel free to email me.

Hi Chimp,

Take a look at the Cochrane reviews to get a meta analysis of medical studies. Brilliant site

You're sounding a much chirpier chimp than you seemed a few months ago when I last read your blog. Great stuff.

Take a look at the next installment. A couple of the B vitamins do have some decent evidence behind them.

With regards to vitamin D, supplements are definitely important in Canada. Even for people with healthy diets. Down here in the temperate regions, it's not as urgent since we get more sunshine.

I know there are people out there who believe a strict vitamin regimen will do away with all that bipolar nonsense, but the only way vitamins will help people with a mental illness is in the physical recovery from all those untreated years where we only ate white bread and handfuls of sawdust. Vitamins also help repair the damage medications do to our bodies during recovery, a Vitamin D supplement is probably the most important pill to be taking everyday right after the ones prescribed to us...
